ABOUT THE RACING FAN

The founder Shane Beck, The Racing Fan came to him while driving to the Sand Dunes with some friends. Frustrated by the lack of coverage locally of motorsports, Beck decided to embark on a journey that would take less then a few weeks to put together. After many meetings, "mabeys" and "let's wait and sees," the whole thing finally came together. The Racing Fan began it's assault on the air-waves of Salt Lake City and the Internet January , 2001.

The show aired on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 for one hour on 1280 The Zone and was called the Bigboy Power Hour. It later moved to a two our show on Tuesday nights and then to Saturday mornings where it has been for the past 5-7 years.

The Racing Fan covers action at Rocky Mountain Raceway and Miller Motorsports Park. The addition to this valley of Miller Motorsports Park has kept the guys busy. "There is a lot of racing to cover now and we're finding we need either more time or more help to do it right". said Beck.

Now, celebrating our 10 year anniversary in 2011! "I can't believe we've been on the air for 10 years, wow. It seemed like just yesterday that we started this show". said Russ Sala Jr.

Shane brought Russ Sala Jr. on the show in 2002. He felt the show needed someone who knows the history of NASCAR. He found that guy with Russ and they have been working together ever since.

Steve Schoenfeld joined the show in 2005. Shane met Steve at Rocky Mountain Raceway and took a liking to him right from the first time he came on the show as a guest talking NHRA Drag Racing. "I realized at that moment that this guy can talk and is passionate about Drag Racing. I needed to get him on the air as a insider and start bringing a NHRA Drag Racing Segment to our listeners" said Beck. Steve is now a regular on the show.

The Racing Fan is a lethal combination of motorsports commentary, entertainment and lifestyle.

Shane Beck, Steve Schoenfeld and Russ Sala Jr. are on a journey. They are committed to bring the best guests to the air ways along with tackling the news stories head on.
